Chancellor Biddy Martin has identified student support as a campus-wide priority. The Madison Initiative for Undergraduates was widely accepted by the student body and unanimously approved by the Board of Regents.
The Madison Initiative for Undergraduates is aimed at improving the quality of undergraduate education and the undergraduate experience while enhancing affordability for families with demonstrated financial need.
The funds generated by the Initiative will add faculty and instructional support in high-demand areas and provide increased funding to vital student services. This can help reduce the net cost of a UW-Madison degree by allowing students to graduate on time or in less time. It also will help to increase availability of financial aid by matching Madison Initiative revenue devoted to student support with funds raised through the Great People Scholarship Campaign.
